September 2, 2021

McGuireWoods’ Heather Arbogast and Clare Lewis are winners of The M&A Advisor’s Emerging Leaders Awards, which celebrate young professionals for success in mergers and acquisitions, turnarounds and financing.

Arbogast, a partner in Baltimore, advises utilities, energy companies, developers, power purchasers, sponsors and investors on transactions and regulatory issues in the power, retail energy, solar, wind and battery storage sectors of the energy industry. She also serves as the Baltimore office’s pro bono partner.

“I am proud to receive this recognition and grateful for the opportunities to work with clients at the forefront of the energy sector,” Arbogast said.

Lewis, a partner in Charlottesville, Virginia, represents venture capital and private equity fund investors, as well as emerging growth and middle market companies, in mergers and acquisitions, equity financings, fund formations and corporate governance matters.

She is the director of the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic at the University of Virginia School of Law, where she teaches corporate law and entrepreneurship. She also is an IAPP-certified information privacy professional and contributes to McGuireWoods’ Password Protected blog, which covers data privacy and security news and trends.

“I am honored to be included in this year’s class of Emerging Leaders and thankful for the support of my McGuireWoods colleagues and our clients,” Lewis said.

“Heather and Clare are talented, business-focused lawyers who are committed to their clients’ success,” said Michael Woodard, chair of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions & Energy Transactional Department. “They are important assets to our practice and we congratulate them for these well-deserved honors.”

Arbogast and Lewis will be honored on Oct. 20 during The M&A Advisor’s “Future of Dealmaking Summit” in New York.
