McGuireWoods is among a select group of law firms singled out by corporate counsel for being well-positioned to handle new types of complex litigation for their clients, according to a survey conducted by BTI Consulting Group.
With COVID-19-related litigation waning and new types of matters proliferating, clients want law firms that are ahead of this curve, BTI researchers found. McGuireWoods was among the firms identified as “Upmarket Movers” that can “handle the new types of matters and better handle the old,” according to BTI.
The findings come from research BTI conducted for its recent report, “BTI Litigation Outlook 2023: Litigation Spending in the Uncertain Economy and Beyond.” McGuireWoods was in an exclusive group of law firms that corporate counsel identified as a powerhouse for commercial and class action litigation in the annual survey.
“We have focused our talent and resources on helping clients anticipate and manage litigation risk and achieve their business goals, and it is gratifying to know clients recognize and appreciate those efforts,” said Dion Hayes, the firm’s deputy managing partner for litigation.
The BTI report projects significant increases in litigation caseloads and spending in the coming year, creating “a record level of opportunity for law firms.”
McGuireWoods is among law firms that “are using client feedback, thought leadership, and targeted business development strategies to grab the extra gains,” according to BTI.
“Their feedback tells them what’s coming before it arrives — and these firms position themselves to get the business,” BTI concluded. “These firms are the first out with thought leadership. They also scour secondary sources and social media to pick up on the cues.”
BTI’s surveys of corporate counsel consistently rate McGuireWoods as a leading law firm. The firm has been recognized 16 times on BTI’s Client Service A-Team, the gold standard for measuring client service excellence.
