McGuireWoods labor and employment associate Alex J. Toney will depart the firm on July 29, 2022, to join Bain & Company as counsel for employment law.
In his new role, he will manage employment litigation and counsel Bain, one of the Big Three global management consulting firms, on emerging issues in employment law.
“McGuireWoods has been a great home for me since 2020,” Toney said. “I’m ready to take the leap into the in-house counsel world but grateful for the experiences and skills I gained while working here.”
During his time with McGuireWoods’ Dallas and Austin offices, Toney represented employers and business owners in state and federal courts across the country on employment matters. He also advised clients during internal investigations and in employment discrimination class actions and proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
At the University of Texas School of Law, Toney received the Dean’s Achievement Award and he was elected to the Order of the Barristers for excellence in oral advocacy. He clerked for the Texas Supreme Court after law school.
