McGuireWoods Associate Colin Francis Heads to Eversource Energy

July 29, 2022

Associate Colin Francis of McGuireWoods’ Washington, D.C., office will join Eversource Energy as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission counsel on Aug. 8, 2022. His last day with the firm was July 29.

In his new role, Francis will represent the New England utility’s interests regarding FERC proceedings, ISO New England Inc. initiatives and New England Power Pool stakeholder processes.

Before joining McGuireWoods, he served as an attorney adviser to four FERC administrative law judges and the chief administrative law judge.

As a member of McGuireWoods’ Regulatory & Compliance Department since 2018, Francis represented energy and utility clients in matters before FERC. He also counseled electric utilities and other industry members on regulatory issues, such as utility rate-making, electric transmission development, renewable energy project development, compliance, standards of conduct and jurisdiction.

“I am thankful for the experiences I’ve had and the relationships I have built at McGuireWoods,” he said. “My time at the firm has challenged me to become a stronger attorney, and I’m excited to bring that experience to this new opportunity. I appreciate that my colleagues are supportive as I transition to my new role.”

Richmond partner Vishwa Link, chair of the Regulatory & Compliance Department, said: “Colin has been a valued member of our practice. While we are sad to be losing him, we wish him great success.”
