McGuireWoods Partner Tanya Greene Named Finalist for LABJ’s Community Impact Award

March 27, 2023

McGuireWoods partner Tanya Greene is a finalist for the Community Impact Award in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2023 Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Awards. The Community Impact Award recognizes a leader who participates in or encourages others to get involved in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the communities where they work or live.

Award winners will be announced March 29 during the LABJ’s Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Symposium and Awards program. Greene will participate in a panel discussion with business and civic leaders on building a diverse and multigenerational workforce.

“I am proud to be a finalist for this award and grateful to be part of a law firm that leads the way on diversity, equity and inclusion in our profession,” Greene said.

Greene is an accomplished litigator who handles high-profile litigation for some of the world’s most recognizable corporations. She also makes an impact through pro bono advocacy and by mentoring the next generation of women and minority lawyers, from law students to midlevel associates.

As the former pro bono leader for McGuireWoods’ downtown Los Angeles and Century City offices, Greene’s service and influence has made an impact in her community and on her mentees. Among her many achievements, she leads a pro bono team serving as co-counsel in a multiplaintiff suit challenging practices by the city of Los Angeles related to the confiscation and disposal of unhoused people’s belongings. McGuireWoods honored Greene with its inaugural Pro Bono Partner Mentor Award in 2022 for her commitment and contributions to pro bono initiatives.

Greene works with the National Bar Association’s Associate Advancement Academy for Excellence program, which pairs diverse junior associates with an in-house mentor and a law firm mentor to expand their understanding of how to advance, develop professionally, and excel as an in-house or law firm attorney.

A graduate of the UCLA School of Law, Greene serves on the board of UCLA Law Women LEAD, which provides programming and networking opportunities to connect law students and alumnae in all stages of their careers. She also provides outreach and guidance to several UCLA Law student organizations, including the Black Law Students Association, which named Greene its 2018 Alumna of the Year.

Greene’s previous honors include selection for the LABJ’s 2022 “Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys” list. In 2021, she was recognized as one of the Daily Journal’s “Top Women Lawyers” and as a “Woman of Influence” by L.A. Biz.
