James’ practice focuses on financial services litigation. James represents banks, lenders, mortgage and loan services, and other financial institutions, in a wide range of cases in federal and state court litigation as well as complex commercial litigation.
James' litigation and trial practice includes having represented lenders on matters regarding complex foreclosure and residential loan issues.
Represented a major hospital consulting firm in obtaining dismissal of a $25 million dollar claim by a one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country.
Represented an interstate motor carrier in the underlying suit as well as on appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in obtaining a judgment dismissing the claims of a major trailer leasing company and awarding $300,000 in favor of the interstate motor carrier for claims of wrongful sequestration and attorney’s fees.
Successfully represented an interstate heavy haul motor carrier in obtaining summary judgment dismissing a $1.5 million dollar claim by 60 former owner-operators as well as successfully obtaining the complete dismissal of all claims by 12 of those owner-operators for repeated discovery abuses.
Represented an individual partner in obtaining summary judgment granting the client’s request to have two partnerships liquidated and dissolved in connection with a partnership dispute with the other partners.
Represented several departing partners in an arbitration case which resulted in the successful dismissal of all claims of a large accounting firm relating to claims of breach of fiduciary duties by the departing partners that had several large clients follow them to their newly formed accounting firm.
