Amanda’s practice focuses on financial services litigation, where she represents lenders in mortgage related lawsuits, using her years of creditor focused litigation experience to advise clients on a variety of issues.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Amanda’s served as the Carolina managing attorney for a national creditor’s rights firm. During this time, her practice was comprised of representing a vast array of creditors, including national and regional banks and other lenders in North and South Carolina state courts.
Amanda’s representation encompassed all levels of litigation involving delinquent accounts, breach of contract, account stated, and fraud, as well as, defense of counterclaims involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, The Fair Credit Billing Act, The Truth in Lending Act, The Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. She has extensive experience in the handling of consumer and commercial collections actions, including the enforcement of security instruments, deficiency actions, claim and delivery actions for the recovery of personal and commercial property and guaranty enforcement actions. She has also represented clients in arbitration proceedings before JAMS and the American Arbitration Association.
Amanda is also certified to appear before the Eastern Bank of Cherokee Indians Tribal Court. She frequently teaches continuing legal education courses on different aspects of collections litigation, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Represented national creditor’s rights firm in South Carolina for alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Represented national and regional banks throughout North and South Carolina regarding delinquent accounts and related claims.
