Joe is an associate at the firm in the Financial Services Litigation and Data Privacy & Security practice groups. Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Joe served as a Deputy District Attorney in Oregon, where he prosecuted the office’s complex financial fraud and elder abuse cases. Joe has substantial jury trial experience as first chair litigating both high-stakes felony cases and misdemeanor offenses. He also has civil litigation experience from the perspective of a government consumer protection division.
At McGuireWoods, Joe has litigated several civil cases as lead counsel, and his experience includes arguing motions in court, preparing and taking depositions, and achieving favorable settlements. Joe also advises a variety of healthcare, technology, and financial institution clients with policies, procedures, and compliance issues relating to state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, CPRA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and COPPA.
Joe graduated from UCLA School of Law, where he was managing editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and received the Masin Award for the second highest grade in Evidence. Joe externed for the Honorable Richard Seeborg in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
