Jared M. DeBona Associate

Jared represents financial industry clients in state and federal courts around the country, in all stages of litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Jared’s practice focuses on complex and class action lawsuits involving major financial institutions. He regularly represents financial industry clients in class actions, matters involving vehicle finance, consumer protection claims, mortgage lending and servicing, credit card processing services, and mortgage lending and servicing. Jared also has experience in general commercial litigation, including commercial contract, tort, and statutory claims, intellectual property disputes, employment disputes, and unfair business practices claims.

During law school, Jared served as served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Joy Flowers Conti of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Honorable Timothy J. Savage of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Experience

Defense of auto finance companies in multiple putative class actions alleging post-repossession and post-sale notices violated the Uniform Commercial Code.

Defense of mortgage lender in putative class action alleging the collection of post-payment interest violated California’s unfair competition law.

Defense of major financial institution in putative class action in bankruptcy court alleging credit reporting practices violated the bankruptcy discharge injunction.

Defense of major financial institution in putative class action alleging common law claims related to card payment processing services.

Representation of financial industry clients in multiple class action settlements.

Representation of bank in litigation related to substantial losses flowing from check kiting scheme.

Representation of vehicle finance company in litigation related to guaranteed asset protection coverage.
