Andrea D. Gardner Counsel

Andrea focuses her practice on energy and utility regulation and compliance before the Virginia State Corporation Commission.

Andrea also has significant experience representing clients in a diverse range of industries on comprehensive antitrust and complex litigation issue, having advised on antitrust and competition issues and litigation management procedures before U.S. and foreign government agencies.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Andrea was senior counsel at Altria Group and provided antitrust counseling related to the distribution, sale and promotion of Altria’s tobacco operating companies’ products in the U.S. and its territories.


Represented multi-national conglomerate against allegations of patent infringement and counterclaims of attempted monopolization, monopolization, group boycott and unlawful tying in medical device market.

Represented global computer microprocessor manufacturer against allegations of exclusionary business practices by foreign competition authorities in Korea, China and Europe.

Represented global computer microprocessor manufacturer in a case filed by its rival involving alleged monopolization through loyalty rebates, exclusive dealing and other conduct relating to pricing in violation of Section 2 of the Sherman Act.

Represented smokeless tobacco company against rivals and indirect purchaser class actions alleging monopolization of the moist snuff market through exclusionary business practices.

Represented multi-billion dollar consumer products company in an arbitration involving business torts, breach of contract and antitrust claims.

Defended major automobile manufacturer in an administrative hearing against claims that dealer incentive programs violated state Motor Vehicle Commission Codes and Statutes.
