Andrea Linna co-chairs McGuireWoods’ Digital Health, Technology and Innovation practice group. As a partner in McGuireWoods’ Chicago office, Andrea advises investors, healthcare providers, and healthcare technology companies on mergers and acquisitions, data privacy and security, regulatory requirements, and healthcare IT.
Andrea frequently speaks and writes about emerging healthcare and technology topics. She has been quoted by CNBC and Crain’s and has given guest lectures on health care law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Loyola University School of Law, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Andrea is the host of the podcast Health+Tech and is a weekly guest on Becker’s Digital Health and Health IT Podcast.
Andrea is also a member of McGuireWoods’ legal practice innovation committee, which partners with firm clients on innovation initiatives.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods in 2021, Andrea was a partner at an AM Law 200 law firm.
Represented a private equity firm in its acquisition of a national ophthalmology provider that utilized a hybrid telemedicine solution for ophthalmic exams with millions of yearly telemedicine visits.
Counseled a client on the rollout of a digital health app that connects IBD patients to licensed healthcare professionals, including corporate practice of medicine (CPOM) requirements and structuring.
Counseled a mobile app developer on healthcare regulatory requirements, including Stark, Anti-Kickback and HIPAA, when referring app users to orthopedic surgeons.
Represented an artificial intelligence and IoT sensor company in negotiating licensing agreements with healthcare systems.
Counseled a California-based provider of employee assistance program services in its rollout of a telehealth platform through a network of 60,000 providers touching 8 million lives.
Represented a leading urology network in the creation of an asynchronous telehealth platform for the treatment of men’s health issues, including prescriptions and lab testing.
Represented a European medical technology and device company on the commercialization of sleep apnea products in the United States.
Counseled an otolaryngologist practice on the creation of a telehealth portal for medical clearances for hearing aids.
Counseled a healthcare insurer in developing a telemedicine service line for its beneficiaries, represented insurer in obtaining its certificate of authority in Michigan, and advised insurer on TPA and URA licensing requirements and ongoing regulatory requirements.
Advised a revenue cycle management (RCM) provider on requirements for de-identifying and selling PHI.
Advised a health care system in the breach of thousands of subjects’ medical data collected during clinical trials.
