Deepika Raj Associate

Deepika practices within the firm’s healthcare department and advises clients on a broad range of regulatory, compliance, transactional, and corporate matters, including state and federal fraud and abuse laws, licensure laws, and due diligence matters.

Prior to law school, Deepika served as a program manager for the California Department of Health Care Services, which administers the California Medicaid program. During her time as a program manager for the California Medicaid program, she provided oversight for contracts in the fee-for-service and managed care delivery systems, implemented program integrity provisions required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, provided access to care and network adequacy analyses, and was responsible for provider enrollment functions for pharmacy, durable medical equipment, orthotics and prosthetic providers, and emergency and non-emergency medical transportation providers. Deepika’s regulatory experience allows her to understand the nuances of regulatory requirements and translate that understanding into actionable legal advice for businesses operating in the healthcare industry.

As a law student at the University of Wisconsin Law School, Deepika served as Note and Comment Editor of the Wisconsin International Law Journal, served as a member of the Wisconsin Moot Court Board, and competed in the Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Moot Court Competition and the Heffernan Moot Court Competition. During her time in law school, she served as a legal intern for a biopharmaceutical company for one summer and served as a legal extern for the American Health Law Association during her last year in law school.

Deepika earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

“My experience as a former Medicaid program manager allows me to approach legal questions efficiently in a highly regulated industry.”
