McGuireWoods partner Raj Natarajan has been named an MCCA Rainmaker by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the legal profession’s premier diversity and inclusion organization.

Natarajan leads McGuireWoods’ nationally recognized Debt Finance Department, a team of more than 90 lawyers in the United States and London that represents leading financial services institutions, including the top 10 U.S. banks ranked by assets.

The department has earned prestigious recognition under Natarajan’s leadership, including kudos as a Law360Banking Practice Group of the Year” and multiple honors as banking and finance “Law Firm of the Year” from U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.” McGuireWoods has ranked among the top 10 U.S. law firms for syndicated loans for the past eight years in Thomson Reuters league tables.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Natarajan has represented lenders in hundreds of syndicated, club and single-lender credit facilities, focusing on financings for middle-market healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He served as a co-chair of the firm’s 2019 Healthcare and Life Sciences Private Equity and Finance Conference in Chicago, attended by 700 investors, lenders and companies seeking financing.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and grateful to McGuireWoods for fostering an inclusive culture that enables all of our lawyers to thrive,” Natarajan said.

As part of his recognition as an MCCA Rainmaker, Natarajan will be featured in the spring edition of the organization’s Diversity & The Bar magazine. He also will be honored at an April 5 award ceremony during MCCA’s Global TEC Forum in San Francisco.

This is the second year in a row that a McGuireWoods lawyer has been recognized as an MCCA Rainmaker. Deputy managing partner Joanne Katsantonis received the honor in 2018.
