Ben advises clients in the energy sector in complex regulatory litigation before state utility commissions. He represents utilities in proceedings involving energy generation and transmission projects, renewables, energy efficiency programs, and grid infrastructure.

Ben assists clients with every stage of case development, discovery, and public hearings. He also regularly advises clients regarding the regulatory implications of utility business proposals and new capital projects, including new generation and transmission projects, and behind the meter net metering facilities.

Outside of his practice, Ben is active in the Virginia State Bar, serving on the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Conference and regularly contributing articles for professional publications.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Ben was an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond where he prosecuted homicides, violent crime, and high-level drug distribution cases. An experienced trial attorney, Ben has tried over 30 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials in Virginia courts. In law school, Ben was head coach of the Mock Trial program, earned Dean’s List Honors, and was elected to the Order of the Barristers.
