On July 23, McGuireWoods Tysons partners Mark Shaffer and Scott Adams gave a presentation to real estate professionals from the Northern Virginia Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, on “Real Estate Development and Construction Project Management.”
Shaffer and Adams discussed how to draft contracts to avoid claims, and common types of construction claims, such as change order, defective work and delay claims. They also covered damages available to remedy claims and how to manage construction claims or avoid them altogether. At the end of the event, they fielded questions from the audience and participated in open discussion with attendees. More than 35 guests attended the event.
