Brian O’Meara participated in a presentation on “The Seventh Circuit Jury Project” at the Chicago Inn of Court with Chief Judge James Holderman and Judge Matthew Kennelly (Northern District of Illinois) on March 13. This project is a joint effort by judges, lawyers, law professors and jury consultants to test certain jury concepts by putting them to work in civil jury trials. Some concepts that have been tested include: questions by the jury during trial; interim statements to the jury by counsel; preliminary substantive jury instructions; and trial time limits.
