Los Angeles senior counsel Andrew Trask, co-chair of the McGuireWoods’ class action group, was recently quoted in Bloomberg BNA Class Action Litigation Report.
In the article, Trask discussed issue certification and the importance of knowing one’s jurisdiction and remembering that the purpose of issue certification is to make things simpler. “It has to cut to the chase,” he said, explaining that courts aren’t going to certify an issue if it’s going to make the litigation more complex.
The September 2016 article, “What to Consider When Considering Issue Certification,” is available online.
The firm’s class action group, which is co-chaired by Trask and Richmond partners Bryan Fratkin and Bethany Lukitsch, will offer a webinar on Nov. 10 on developments that have emerged as a result of recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions related to class actions.
