McGuireWoods Tysons partner Tom Spahn (Business & Securities Litigation) is quoted in a May 19 Bloomberg Law story on the challenges law firms face with client conflicts in the government contracts sector.
The article noted that conflicts are increasing and the issue is forcing law firms and their contractor clients to reassess how they handle their relationships with each other. Spahn, chair of the firm’s Ethics Committee and a sought-after speaker on ethics matters, said there are multiple issues surrounding government contracts.
He explained that conflicts arise more often in law firms’ government contracts practice groups due to the nature of the process by which companies bid for work. “In [the] government contract world, this can be an everyday occurrence,” Spahn said.
