Law360 Quotes Joe Reilly on CFPB Chief Nominee Confirmation Hearings

July 19, 2018

In a story about what leading financial services lawyers anticipate to be major issues in Kathy Kraninger’s upcoming Senate confirmation hearing as Consumer Financial Protection Bureau director, Law360 sought out Washington, D.C., senior counsel Joe Reilly for his views.

President Donald Trump nominated Kraninger in June to succeed CFPB’s then-acting Director Mick Mulvaney as head of the financial industry watchdog.

The story said her supporters will note her work at the Office of Management and Budget and that she was part of the team that set up the cabinet-level Department of Homeland Security in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, while critics will question her experience in finance.

“Watch for attempts by Democrats to unearth any lack of knowledge about consumer finance basics,” Reilly told Law360.
