President Donald Trump nominated Kraninger in June to succeed CFPB’s then-acting Director Mick Mulvaney as head of the financial industry watchdog.
The story said her supporters will note her work at the Office of Management and Budget and that she was part of the team that set up the cabinet-level Department of Homeland Security in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, while critics will question her experience in finance.
“Watch for attempts by Democrats to unearth any lack of knowledge about consumer finance basics,” Reilly told Law360.
