Aaron Flynn Quoted in Bloomberg Law on Air Particle Pollution Standard

April 22, 2020

Bloomberg Law quoted McGuireWoods partner Aaron Flynn in an April 15, 2020, story on a possible legal clash over the Environmental Protection Agency’s stance on air particle pollution standards.

EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler recently announced that the agency would maintain existing thresholds for air particle pollution. The article noted that the EPA’s team of outside clean air advisers supports keeping the existing standards in place, while agency staff argues that they do not adequately protect public health.

Flynn, who represents industry clients in Clean Air Act Litigation, told Bloomberg Law that the diverse views underscore the importance of the EPA administrator’s role.

“There’s a lot of different voices about what should happen,” Flynn said. “And when that happens, the Clean Air Act invests the administrator with being the tiebreaker, with being the ultimate decision-maker.”

Flynn and fellow partners Makram Jaber and Allison Wood joined McGuireWoods on April 1, 2020, in Washington, D.C. The highly accomplished environmental lawyers are members of the firm’s Regulatory & Compliance Department.
