Jonathan Harmon Discusses Pandemic’s Impact on Litigation in Virginia Business

September 16, 2020

Virginia Business magazine interviewed McGuireWoods chairman Jonathan Harmon for a story in its September edition on how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect litigation.

Harmon told the magazine he expects an increase in pandemic-related bankruptcy cases, particularly in hard-hit industries such as travel, retail and healthcare, as well as employment and labor lawsuits and class action litigation relating to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Harmon also discussed how McGuireWoods has effectively deployed technology to meet the demands of a largely remote work environment: “We’re weathering the storm well. Once everything gets back, I think we’ve learned that we can do some of these things remotely.”
