McGuireWoods Commits Significant Pledge to MCCA

November 18, 2008

McGuireWoods announced it will contribute $250,000 to the 10x10x10 Campaign of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. This is among the largest donation pledges received by the campaign to date.

“MCCA is very appreciative of McGuireWoods’ generous donation,” said MCCA Executive Director Veta T. Richardson. “McGuireWoods has been actively supporting the MCCA since the organization was created in 1997, and we appreciate the firm’s commitment to this campaign.”

The MCCA Tenth Anniversary Campaign’s goal is to raise $10 million by the year 2010. A significant portion of McGuireWoods’ donation will go to the Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr., Scholarship Program, which provides law school scholarships for newly accepted students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The remaining will support other MCCA initiatives.

“McGuireWoods is a strong supporter of the MCCA’s efforts to increase diversity among lawyers, which is why we believe it is important to make a significant financial pledge to help the MCCA reach its campaign goal,” said Richard Cullen, McGuire Woods’ Chairman. “We are grateful to the MCCA for the programs it provides to lawyers throughout the country, as well as the scholarships and guidance it provides to students interested in pursuing a legal career.”
