The National Law Journal ranked McGuireWoods as the 35th largest law firm in the United States in the publication’s 2008 list of the largest 250 U.S. law firms released November 10. Last year, McGuireWoods was ranked 45th on the NLJ 250 list.
The NLJ 250 ranking is based on the number of lawyers within firms, determined by attorney census information provided by the nation’s largest 300 law firms between October 1, 2007 and September 20, 2008. In a National Law Journal article detailing information used to create the list, the magazine noted McGuireWoods’ merger this year with Helms, Mulliss & Wicker, a Charlotte, N.C.-based firm that had approximately 160 lawyers.
