McGuireWoods Partners with Working Mother to Provide Work-Life Seminar in Richmond

McGuireWoods LLP partnered with Working Mother magazine to provide a seminar entitled “The Search for Work/Life Balance” on Friday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond.

The program provided career women in leadership roles with time management advice, leadership examples and a workshop for planning work/life balance. Carol Evans, founder and chief executive officer of Working Mother, was the keynote speaker. McGuireWoods was one of 50 law firms selected in 2007 for the inaugural list in Working Mother magazine of “Best Law Firms for Women Lawyers” (see earlier press release).

The panel speakers included:

  • Grace den Hartog, senior vice president and general counsel at Owens & Minor;
  • Tara Louise Casey, director of pro bono services at the University of Richmond School of Law, who also works in conjunction with the Center for Civic Engagement;
  • Maureen Ackerly, a partner at McGuireWoods who won the 2006 Richmond SunTrust Marathon and the 2008 Napa Valley Marathon;

First Lady of Virginia Anne Holton was guest of honor and made the closing remarks on her own experiences as a working mother.
