Johnston Elected to Executive Committee; Cairns to Serve as Office Managing Partner

McGuireWoods LLP announced today that partners Barbara Christie Johnston and Scott S. Cairns have assumed additional leadership roles within the firm. Johnston has been elected to the firm’s eight-member Executive Committee, while Cairns is the new managing partner of the firm’s Jacksonville office.

Johnston, who became Jacksonville office managing partner in July 2008, steps down in order to devote time to her new role on the Executive Committee. She also serves on the firm’s 24-member Board of Partners while representing clients of the firm’s M & A, Securities and Corporate Services Department.

As the new office managing partner, Cairns will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 50-person Jacksonville office while maintaining an active practice as a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. Cairns previously served on the firm’s Board of Partners for nine years and served as managing partner of the Jacksonville office following the firm’s merger with Mahoney Adam & Criser in 1998.

“We are fortunate to have two very strong leaders in both Johnston and Cairns, and we are grateful they have accepted these additional responsibilities within the firm.” said Tom Cabaniss, managing partner of McGuireWoods.
