Stephen D. Busch Elected President of Virginia Bar Association

January 29, 2010

Stephen D. Busch, a partner with McGuireWoods LLP and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, has been elected to serve as president of the Virginia Bar Association (VBA), the oldest and largest voluntary bar association in the country. Busch was sworn in last weekend at the VBA’s annual meeting in Colonial Williamsburg, Va.

Busch is the ninth firm lawyer to serve as president of the 120-year-old organization. He has held numerous leadership positions within the VBA, including serving as chairman of its Board of Governors in 2008, where he has been a board member since 2006. In 2003, he was chairman of the Civil Litigation Section; and in 1990, he was chairman of the Young Lawyers Section.

“All of us at McGuireWoods are honored by Steve’s selection as the next president of the Virginia Bar Association,” said Richard Cullen, firm chairman. “Steve’s dedication to the VBA’s mission and goals, and his years of hard work on behalf of the organization, exemplify our firm’s long tradition of service to the legal profession. We congratulate him on joining a list of some of Virginia’s most distinguished attorneys, going back over a century, who have led this important organization.”

Busch will maintain his active practice at the firm in the Toxic Tort and Environmental Litigation Department.
