McGuireWoods LLP announced today that Norfolk partner Douglas Foley, chairman of the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency Department, will be inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Bankruptcy.
Foley, who focuses his practice on all aspects of insolvency and debtor-creditor issues, is one of 40 nominees from the United States and abroad being inducted in the Twenty-Second Class (2011) of College Fellows for their professional excellence and exceptional contributions to the fields of bankruptcy and insolvency.
Criteria for selection include: the highest standard of professionalism, ethics, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership contributing to the enhancement of bankruptcy and insolvency law and practice; sustained evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing or writing on bankruptcy or insolvency; and a commitment to elevate knowledge and understanding of the profession and public respect for the practice.
“The American College of Bankruptcy is a prestigious association within the field and I am truly honored to be recognized by such a distinguished group of bankruptcy professionals,” said Foley.
The ceremony will take place on March 18, 2011 at the U.S. Supreme Court in the Great Hall in Washington, D.C., and will be presided over by American College of Bankruptcy Chair Paul M. Singer.
The College is an honorary association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals, including commercial and consumer bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency accountants, turnaround and workout specialists, law professors, judges, government officials and others involved in the bankruptcy and insolvency community. The College has 758 Fellows, each selected by a Board of Regents from among recommendations of the Circuit Admissions Council in each federal judicial circuit and specially appointed committees for judicial and foreign Fellows.
