Ava Lias-Booker Honored as Girl Scouts Distinguished Woman

May 9, 2012

Ava Lias-Booker, managing partner of the firm’s Baltimore office, was one of six business women recognized by the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland for their professional and civic contributions to Central Maryland at the annual Distinguished Women’s Awards reception held at the Baltimore Country Club on April 16, 2012. At the event, Lias-Booker spoke about the Girl Scouts’ mission ToGetHer There: “To insure the success of girls we must participate, speak up and invest in girls so that they can become leaders in tomorrow’s boardrooms, technology startups, corporate boardrooms, state houses—and the White House.”

Each of the women honored at the event were partnered with a high school-aged Girl Scout who shadowed them for a day at their workplace, observing firsthand how professional women conduct business, interact with their peers and juggle a myriad of duties. Proceeds from the Distinguished Women’s Award reception support leadership development programs that the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland provides to its 27,000 members in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.
