McGuireWoods continued its strong performance advising corporate issuers and underwriters in U.S. capital markets transactions through the first nine months of 2018, ranking among the top law firms in definitive league tables published by Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters.
The firm’s capital markets team earned high rankings in the following categories in the Bloomberg Global Adviser League Tables and Thomson Reuters’ Global Capital Markets Review:
- No. 6 in volume ($28.3 billion) and No. 15 in deal count (20) for U.S. Investment Grade Corporate Bonds;
- No. 8 in volume ($28.3 billion) and No. 16 in deal count (20) for U.S. Corporate Bonds;
- No. 7 in deal count (32) and No. 9 in volume ($28.4 billion) for U.S. Straight Debt Excluding Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) and Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS)
- No. 10 in deal count (32) and No. 13 in volume ($28.4 billion) for U.S. Straight Debt Including ABS and MBS; and
- No. 3 in volume ($1.5 billion) for Canada Corporate Bonds.
The firm ranked 14th in volume ($30 billion) and 16th in deal count (36) for U.S. Debt, Equity and Equity-Related Transactions and 18th for U.S. Equity Linked Transactions ($250 million).
The firm also earned strong rankings for global transactions, placing 11th in deal count (47) and 18th in volume ($28.6 billion) in Global Straight Debt Excluding ABS and MBS; 14th in deal count (47) and 18thin volume ($28.6 billion) in Global Straight Debt Including ABS and MBS; and 14th in volume ($11.3 billion) for Global Bonds.
Notable transactions through Q3 2018 include advising Kennametal Inc. in its $300 million offering of senior notes and redemption of $400 million of senior notes; representing Dominion Energy in its $1.4 billion public offering of common stock via forward sale; and representing international biopharmaceutical company Biofrontera AG in its initial public offering on the NASDAQ Capital Market.
