McGuireWoods Richmond partner Diane Flannery has been selected as one of Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s “Influential Women of Law” for 2021. The recognition honors outstanding women lawyers and judges who are making a difference in the profession and in their communities. Recipients will be celebrated at an online awards program July 20.
Flannery, chair of McGuireWoods’ Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department, is an accomplished litigator and has tried complex, high-profile product liability cases in federal and state courts. She has organized and managed large-scale defenses in class action and multidistrict litigation, handled emotionally charged severe injury and death cases, and advised clients on punitive damages, product recalls and matters before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Flannery is active in her community and has served on a variety of boards, including the board of trustees for the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. She also is a member of the Historic Richmond Council, Junior League of Richmond and Impact 100, which provides transformative grants to Richmond nonprofit organizations to improve the community.

In recognition of her exceptional work, Flannery also was named Product Liability Attorney of the Year by Euromoney’s Legal Media Group in 2020. In addition, she is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one half of one percent of American lawyers.
