Corporate Counsel Rate McGuireWoods Among Client Service Elite for 16th Time

Firm Is One of Only Five to Make BTI’s A-Team 10 Straight Years

McGuireWoods once again ranked among the preeminent law firms for client service and was singled out by corporate counsel as “Best of the Best” in three key performance areas in BTI Consulting’s 2022 “Client Service A-Team” report.

McGuireWoods is one of only five firms to rank among the top 30 for 10 consecutive years in BTI’s annual survey of law firm performance, joining Jones Day, Morgan Lewis, Sidley and Skadden. The report — considered the gold standard for measuring client service excellence — is based on feedback from top legal decision makers at companies with revenue of $700 million or more.

“Top legal decision makers tell me McGuireWoods and its attorneys are particularly resourceful and helpful — they know just how to help and when,” said Michael B. Rynowecer, president of the BTI Consulting Group, who directs the survey.

Clients rated McGuireWoods as the “Best of the Best” for anticipating their needs and keeping them informed, attributes BTI called “a powerful combination of client service skill” that drives long-term relationships. The firm also earned BTI’s highest client service rating for quality products, “a key and often overlooked part of the deliverable,” according to the report.

McGuireWoods was rated a “leader” in client service activities most important to corporate counsel — dealing with complexity, fielding the absolute best team, commitment to help and client focus. Clients praised the firm for these qualities and more in interviews with BTI researchers.

“They are very proactive, pragmatic, and they understand our business needs and risk level well,” a client said. McGuireWoods lawyers deliver “great legal advice, are always available and have excellent training programs that we take advantage of whenever we can,” added another.

BTI’s findings are based on in-depth interviews with more than 350 top legal decision makers between January 2021 and January 2022. The top-rated firms comprise BTI’s “Client Service 30.”
