McGuireWoods Associate Eric Fleming to Join Brinks

March 30, 2023

Eric S. Fleming, an associate in McGuireWoods’ Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department in Richmond, will join Brinks as senior counsel, litigation. His last day with the firm is March 31, 2023.

In his new role, Fleming will help manage Brinks’ commercial and tort litigation throughout the United States and Canada.

Fleming joined McGuireWoods in 2017 after serving as a judicial clerk for Judge Mary Malveaux of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. At the firm, he helped manufacturers and retailers untangle the complicated legal and procedural questions that arise in consumer class actions and environmental litigation. He represented clients at all stages of a case, from initial motions practice through trial to post-trial briefing, and he briefed and argued appeals in state and federal courts. Beyond the courtroom, he advised clients on how to avoid litigation.

Fleming earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from William & Mary Law School, and he interned for a judge at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and for the solicitor general of Virginia.

“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to start my legal career at McGuireWoods. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of teachers and mentors than my colleagues in the Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department,” Fleming said. “I credit my department chair, Diane Flannery, and my supervisor, Trent Taylor, but I also count myself lucky to have learned a little bit every day about providing excellent client service from all the talented individuals with whom I’ve worked at this firm.”

Flannery, a Richmond partner, congratulated him on this opportunity. “Eric has been a valuable member of our team. While we are sorry to lose him, we look forward to working with him in his new position at Brinks and wish him all the best.”
