McGuireWoods is a finalist for Pro Bono: Outstanding Firm and Environment & Sustainability: Outstanding Firm in Chambers’ Diversity & Inclusion Awards: USA 2023.
The awards celebrate the achievements of firms and individuals who advance diversity, inclusion, pro bono and sustainability across the United States.
For the fifth consecutive year, McGuireWoods was shortlisted for Outstanding Firm for Pro Bono for working to close the “justice gap” for those in need. The firm’s recent pro bono achievements include helping the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh rebuild after a gunman killed 11 people and wounded six others in 2018; assisting Afghan families seeking asylum; partnering with the Innocence Project at the University of Virginia School of Law to vacate the conviction of a Virginia man who spent 22 years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit; and helping Ukrainian refugees displaced by the Russian invasion seek temporary protected status in the United States.
McGuireWoods also is a finalist for Outstanding Firm for Environment & Sustainability for its task force helping clients adapt to the growing need for comprehensive guidance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. The task force helps companies evaluate and develop specific ESG targets, report on ESG issues responsibly and effectively, and create policies and procedures to integrate ESG into daily operations and long-term planning — all while avoiding common pitfalls that can inadvertently lead to unwanted liability risk.
Winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on June 15, 2023.
