McGuireWoods’ Alexander Madrid Wins Diversity Champion Award From LPL Financial

June 1, 2023

LPL Financial honored McGuireWoods partner Alexander M. Madrid with the company’s first Diversity Champion Award, presented as part of LPL’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Awards program.

The awards program was established in support of the American Bar Association Resolution 113 and LPL’s commitment to promote diversity in the legal profession. The program honors law firms and attorneys for demonstrating a commitment to DEI at their firms and in their communities.

Madrid, a Pittsburgh partner in McGuireWoods’ Complex Commercial Litigation Department, represents financial services providers in government investigations and enforcement actions, with a focus on advising broker-dealers in SEC and FINRA investigations. He also counsels clients in securities litigation, class action defense and FINRA arbitration proceedings.

Madrid is a first-generation Latino American and native Spanish speaker. In addition, Madrid provides pro bono representation to individuals seeking asylum and to those who are disabled and incarcerated. He serves on McGuireWoods’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee and was selected as the firm’s representative member for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 2022 Fellows Program in recognition of his leadership and commitment.

“I am honored and humbled to receive LPL’s first Diversity Champion Award. Diversity, equity and inclusion are not buzzwords. They are moral commitments that are at the heart of who I am,” Madrid said. “I am proud to work at McGuireWoods, where these tenets are part of our institutional bedrock, and to have as a client LPL Financial, which demonstrates every day its leadership promoting these values.”

LPL is the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, supporting more than 21,000 financial advisers, including advisers at approximately 1,100 enterprises and approximately 500 registered investment adviser firms nationwide.

“We congratulate Alex, who clearly exhibits his firm’s value of DEI as a cornerstone of their strategic plan,” said Michelle Oroschakoff, LPL’s managing director and chief legal officer.
