As chief administrative officer, J.D. implements McGuireWoods’ comprehensive strategy involving all administrative functions, including cost management, process improvement, and engagement and retention efforts. He provides advice, coaching, advocacy and guidance regarding performance management and other relevant HR policies and programs in his areas of responsibility, which include office administrators, paralegals, practice assistants and the Business Resource Center.
J.D. — who has been with McGuireWoods since 2003 — formerly served as chief legal talent officer. In that role, he focused on recruiting partners, associates and business professionals. He also guided efforts in the professional development area, where he was instrumental in the creation of the firm’s inaugural associate mentoring program.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, J.D. spent 18 years with an international firm in Washington, D.C., where he served in a number of positions in the attorney development and recruiting areas.
