Jesse is a real estate and project development lawyer. He partners with developers, utilities and project sponsors to facilitate the development, acquisition and sale of energy infrastructure projects, including those in the renewable and conventional power energy sectors.
Jesse also works with real estate developers to navigate all phases of commercial real estate projects. He has guided his clients through the development of big box, mixed-use, planned neighborhood and retail projects.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Jesse’s practice focused on commercial real estate and upstream oil and gas transactions. He leverages his prior experience to help clients navigate and understand title, survey, environmental, entitlement and business risks associated with their energy transition projects.
Experience
- Acted as outside general counsel for independent oil and gas producers for a variety of matters including acquisitions, dispositions and disputes.
- Represented multiple ranches, farms, landowners and mineral interest owners in the negotiation of oil, gas, water and renewable energy leases and their ancillary easements and surface use agreements.
- Represented real estate developers in their acquisition and disposition of real property assets; negotiated purchase and sale agreements; and performed title, survey, environmental and entitlement diligence regarding the assets.
- Closed multiple land bank transactions on behalf of a private equity firm; performed due diligence regarding development, entitlement, environmental and title issues regarding the projects.
