Lauren focuses her practice on land use, real estate transactions, and energy matters, with particular experience guiding developers, corporate clients, and institutional owners through complex entitlement processes in Northern Virginia. She advises on rezonings, special exceptions, site plan approvals, and development conditions for residential, mixed-use, commercial, and affordable housing projects across Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, and surrounding jurisdictions.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Lauren spent more than six years at a prominent Northern Virginia real estate law firm, where she secured land use entitlements for large-scale development projects. Her experience encompasses negotiating development conditions, affordable housing commitments, and historic preservation agreements, as well as representing clients before local government bodies, advisory commissions, and community stakeholders. Lauren has been involved in the approval of projects totaling thousands of residential units and hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial space.

  • Counsel to developers, corporate clients, and institutional owners on land use entitlements for large-scale mixed-use, residential, commercial, and affordable housing projects in Northern Virginia, including rezonings, site plan amendments, special use permits, form-based code applications, and comprehensive plan amendments.
  • Counsel on phased redevelopment of a multi-acre Northern Virginia site involving more than 50 buildings and over 1,300 committed affordable housing units, including subsequent new construction phases delivering mid-rise mixed-use and affordable buildings with ground floor retail and public open space.
  • Counsel on the approval of high-rise and mid-rise mixed-use developments across Arlington County and the City of Alexandria, including projects featuring hundreds of rental apartment units, ground floor retail and grocery uses, transfers of development rights, and committed affordable housing components.
  • Counsel on adaptive reuse and office-to-residential conversion approvals in Arlington County, including one of the first such projects approved in the jurisdiction.
  • Counsel on the negotiation of development conditions, affordable housing commitments, historic preservation agreements, and community benefit packages for development projects across Arlington County and the City of Alexandria.
