John’s practice focuses on commercial leasing and financing, and commercial real property purchase and sale transactions. He is responsible for negotiating, drafting and reviewing various real estate contracts for retail, office and industrial uses, including leases, purchase/sale agreements, easements, licenses, deeds of trust, subordination agreements, promissory notes, and amendments.

He has drafted and negotiated purchase and sale agreements, and handled the closing of numerous purchase and sale transactions on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and local landlords. On behalf of national retailers, he has negotiated and closed many retail lease transactions for stores of all sizes. He has handled hundreds of leases, licenses and easements for telecommunications sites throughout the western United States.

In 2019, he represented a national bank on its replacement lease of approximately 162,000 of office space in downtown Los Angeles at Union Bank Plaza (and it was the 5th largest lease in Los Angeles for 2019). John’s other recent transactions include: (i) sale of a 22 acre industrial park in Southern California containing over 300,000 square feet, (ii) two (2) call center leases of over 100,000 square feet each for a Fortune 50 company, (iii) lease extension in Irvine, California for a Fortune 50 company headquarters of over 300,000 square feet, (iv) new leases and amendments for office and technical space for a Fortune 50 company totaling over 1,500,000 square feet, with many of the leases for over 100,000 square feet of space, (v) new leases and amendments for over 50 retail stores, (vi) numerous leases for bowling and family entertainment centers for locations throughout the US, with each one containing between 25,000 to 50,000 square feet, (vii) a lease for a communications company for approximately 150,000 square feet of office and research space in Ottawa, Canada, (viii) several build to suit projects for distribution centers each containing 250,000 square feet or more, and (ix) new leases and amendments for additional office, industrial and research space totaling over 1,000,000 square feet.
