Survey: Major Banks Seek Out McGuireWoods for Employment Law Matters

June 23, 2017

McGuireWoods represented major investment banks in the most federal employment law cases during the past year, according to a Bloomberg BNA analysis.

The firm handled 17 non-ERISA labor and employment law cases for major bank clients from July 1, 2016, to June 7, 2017, to place McGuireWoods at the top among U.S. firms, including those that specialize in labor and employment matters. McGuireWoods topped the list even though only 11.5 percent of the firm’s federal court appearances during that period related to labor and employment law. Still, three in 10 of the firm’s federal court appearances during that time were for major bank clients.

To compile its report, Bloomberg BNA used Bloomberg Law’s Litigation Analytics tool to study the federal court appearances lawyers entered in cases involving major investment banks.

Leading investment banks with workplace legal concerns often turn to labor and employment lawyers at full-service law firms that handle their core financial business, the Bloomberg BNA analysis found. The findings illustrate the formidable capabilities McGuireWoods deploys for its financial institution clients.

McGuireWoods was named “Law Firm of the Year” for Banking and Finance Law in the 2017 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” The firm also earned Tier 1 rankings for Litigation – Labor & Employment, and Employment Law – Management in the same publication.
