Law360 interviewed Peter Geovanes, McGuireWoods’ chief innovation and AI officer, for a Nov. 13, 2023, story on how law firms are preparing their attorneys to use generative text tools.
Geovanes told Law360 that McGuireWoods is training attorneys and professional staff on the fundamentals of the technology, including its capabilities and limitations. Geovanes will lead future training sessions on the use of CoCounsel, an AI legal assistant developed by Casetext and adopted by McGuireWoods. Lawyers also will receive instruction on professional responsibility and ethics, he noted.
Geovanes noted that he sits on Casetext’s advisory board, giving him an opportunity to help steer the development of the CoCounsel platform. “McGuireWoods is set up in a strategic place to not only foster this technology but to be that advocate for our client and our client’s needs as well,” he said.
