Law360, Bloomberg Law, Commercial Dispute Resolution and the Triangle Business Journal were among the national and regional media outlets covering the arrival of former North Carolina Solicitor General Ryan Park, who joined McGuireWoods’ national litigation and appellate practices in Raleigh.
Park served as North Carolina’s solicitor general from 2020 to 2025, managing appellate litigation in state and federal courts and serving as lead counsel in the state’s most significant appeals and select cases in trial court. He has presented oral argument in more than 30 appeals, including twice at the U.S. Supreme Court and nine times at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
In Law360’s May 5, 2025, story, Park said his move to McGuireWoods allows him to remain in North Carolina and build a national practice focused on high-stakes litigation and appeals.
“When I was looking at firms, I wanted to stay rooted in North Carolina and practice here and live here, but wanted to join a leading national litigation practice, and McGuireWoods combines those two things very well for me,” said Park, who co-leads McGuireWoods’ North Carolina appellate practice. “It does some of the most complex and interesting litigation anywhere, but has a really sizable presence here in North Carolina.”
Park added, “I anticipate that I will be continuing what I did in government, which is having a heavy diet of complex litigation here in North Carolina in the state courts and federal courts, including the Fourth Circuit, and also getting a chance to practice nationally and work on some of the hardest cases anywhere.”
Reuters also noted Park’s arrival in the May 6, 2025, edition of its legal newsletter, “The Daily Docket.”
