McGuireWoods and Helms Mulliss Merger Creates Bond Counsel Leader in the Southeast Region

McGuireWoods, the number one bond counsel firm in Virginia, and Helms Mulliss & Wicker, the number one bond counsel firm in North Carolina, have merged retaining the name McGuireWoods.

The Bond Buyer ranked both firms as two of the top ten bond counsel for the Southeast Region for 2007. Had the merger taken place in 2007, McGuireWoods would have been the number one bond counsel in the Southeast, with a total of $5.775 billion in bond transactions.

Last year, McGuireWoods was bond counsel on $3.216 billion in bond transactions in the Southeast, while Helms Mulliss was bond counsel on transactions totaling $2.559 billion.

The Bond Buyer recognized McGuireWoods as the number one bond counsel firm in Virginia for 2007, based on $2.727 billion of bond transactions, while Helms Mulliss was recognized as the number one bond counsel in North Carolina for transactions totaling $2.559 billion.
