McGuireWoods Team Represents Harris Teeter in Approx. $2.5 Billion Merger with Kroger

A team of McGuireWoods lawyers, led by partners Harrison Marshall, Chris Scheurer and Rick Viola is representing Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Inc. (NYSE: HTSI), in connection with its merger with a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR).

On Tuesday, July 9, 2013, Harris Teeter announced that it had entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Kroger will purchase all outstanding shares of Harris Teeter stock.  McGuireWoods, along with its predecessor firm Helms, Mulliss & Wicker, has represented Harris Teeter (formerly Ruddick Corporation) for over 70 years.  You can read more about the transaction in many media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, BloombergFinancial TimesAmLaw Daily and Law 360.
