June 12, 2020

The Legal Intelligencer has honored McGuireWoods partner David Pusateri for lifetime achievement in its 2020 Professional Excellence Awards recognizing Pennsylvania’s top lawyers and legal departments. Award recipients will be recognized at a Sept. 9 reception in Philadelphia and in special sections of The Legal Intelligencer, an American Lawyer Media publication.

Based in McGuireWoods’ Pittsburgh office, Pusateri has practiced environmental, real estate and business law in his hometown for more than 35 years. He joined McGuireWoods in 2001 and served as managing partner of the Pittsburgh office for a decade before becoming deputy managing partner of the firm’s corporate practices. Under his leadership, the Pittsburgh office grew dramatically and expanded its capabilities, becoming a force in M&A, private equity, debt finance and commercial litigation with industry strengths in healthcare, energy, natural resources and financial services.

Pusateri guided the firm’s corporate practices from 2011 to 2019, a period in which McGuireWoods established itself as a top firm for deal work and excellent client service and expanded its global footprint.

“It is gratifying to be recognized for serving clients and helping build our firm’s presence in a great city,” Pusateri said. “I cannot thank my McGuireWoods colleagues enough for their friendship and support.”

“Dave has been instrumental in reshaping McGuireWoods and positioning the firm for continued success,” said managing partner J. Tracy Walker IV. “We are proud to see him honored for his important contributions.”

Outside of his law practice, Pusateri serves as a leader in his community, including 12 years on the school board for the Quaker Valley School District.

“Dave’s vision and leadership have been instrumental to our growth in Pittsburgh and our strength as a firm,” said David Hornyak, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Pittsburgh office. “This is well-deserved recognition for a brilliant career.”
