Peter Geovanes Joins McGuireWoods as Chief Innovation and AI Officer

Peter Geovanes, an accomplished executive who has implemented innovative analytic and AI solutions for law firms and large corporations, has joined McGuireWoods as chief innovation and AI officer. He reports directly to Managing Partner J. Tracy Walker IV.

Geovanes, based in Chicago, has significant business, legal, technology and project management experience in a career that spans more than three decades. He comes to McGuireWoods from an Am Law 50 firm, where he led data strategy, AI and analytics. He was a finalist for the Litera Legal Innovator of the Year Award and the ILTA Innovative Leader of the Year Award. In 2022, he won Corinium Intelligence’s “Data Value Award,” which celebrates the leader who “has worked to extract large amounts of value from their data & analytics projects.”

Geovanes has extensive experience leading data strategy, business intelligence and the development of analytic solutions for Fortune 1,000 clients and law firms, supporting their evolving analytical needs. Geovanes, who earned an MBA and a J.D., also served for eight years as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

At McGuireWoods, Geovanes spearheads development and implementation of innovative business solutions, including the use of AI-enhanced tools, to better serve clients and to improve firm operations. He also is a leader in the firm’s Practice Innovation Office, a team of lawyers and administrative professionals that evaluates, recommends and pilots novel approaches to serving clients.
