McGuireWoods partner Gregory Evans was selected for inclusion in “The 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America.”
The publication named Evans, who co-leads the firm’s Environmental Litigation Practice Group, in its 21st annual edition honoring “advocates who lead the way for clients, their communities, their firms [and are] brilliant, impassioned and dedicated to the law and its practice.”
Based in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., Evans is recognized nationally as a top trial attorney with an unbroken record in complex and important environmental cases. His notable accomplishments include serving as first-chair trial and appellate counsel in Asarco v. Atlantic Richfield Co., where he won two appeals and a CERCLA trial for copper mining giant Asarco in a $200 million groundwater cleanup at a Montana Superfund site. He has argued environmental cases before the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Second, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Circuits. He currently represents PSEG at river mega sites in New Jersey, and United Launch Alliance on critical environmental issues at space launch centers at Cape Canaveral, Kennedy Space Center and Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Lawdragon has recognized Evans as one of the 500 top U.S. environmental lawyers in its past four editions of its annual list of “The Lawdragon 500 Leading Environmental Lawyers.” He has been selected as one of The American Lawyer’s “45 Under 45” and a “Star Lateral” and has been profiled by The Wall Street Journal.
Noreen Kelly, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation, said, “Greg is an exceptional litigator who has produced remarkable results in high-stakes cases throughout the country. We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized among such distinguished peers and elite law firms,” said Evans. “This recognition is due to teamwork. I would not have received this honor without the tireless dedication of my colleagues at McGuireWoods. Even more, I wouldn’t have been able to succeed without the deep trust of clients, agencies and communities. I will always be committed to advocating for client solutions that safeguard our communities and natural resources.”
