Daniel represents employers in complex litigation, bringing a wealth of experience in trade secret, restrictive covenant, and discrimination and retaliation suits. Clients rely on Daniel for practical, business-oriented counseling on general employment issues and compliance with federal and state law to protect their interests and resolve disputes efficiently.

Daniel has successfully litigated and resolved a range of matters before federal and state courts and agencies, including playing a key role in securing injunctive relief in non-compete and non-solicit enforcement and winning dismissals of lawsuits and agency charges. His practice encompasses a broad range of laws, including Title VII, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, COBRA, WARN, and the Virginia Human Rights Act.  Daniel provides day-to-day counseling on hiring, separations, and compliance, and is known for prompt, detail-oriented client service.

Additionally, Daniel is committed to pro bono service, having argued and won an immigration appeal for a juvenile client and represented individuals in criminal and civil matters. He is active in professional and community organizations, including as a member of the Executive Committee of the John Marshall American Inn of Court.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Daniel clerked for the Honorable David J. Novak, United States District Judge of the Eastern District of Virginia, for whom he also worked as a judicial intern while Judge Novak served as a United States Magistrate Judge. Daniel graduated with honors from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he served as an articles and comments editor for the University of Richmond Law Review. Daniel also earned a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the College of William & Mary.
