Kelby focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and healthcare litigation. Kelby represents companies in a variety of high-stakes litigation, with a focus on the healthcare industry, in both state and federal court.
Before joining McGuireWoods, Kelby worked as a restructuring associate for an international law firm where she represented and advised clients in complex financial and operational restructurings and related litigation.
Kelby received her undergraduate degree from DePaul University, and her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she graduated in the top 1% of her class. During law school, Kelby earned CALI awards for the highest grade in Antitrust, Bankruptcy, Professional Responsibility: Business Ethics, Civil Procedure, and Legal Writing II.
- Representation of a leading health insurance company in False Claims Act litigation.
- Representation of one of the nation’s largest health systems in restrictive covenant dispute, resulting in successful motion for temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction and dismissal of appeal regarding same.
- Prevailed on a motion to dismiss in employment-related dispute involving allegations of improper termination of executive and forfeiture of executive’s shares in the company.
- Representation of healthcare companies in criminal and civil investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice.
- Representation of numerous clients in a variety of matters, including False Claims Act litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, restrictive covenant disputes, payor-provider disputes, and employment-related disputes.
