Legaltech News Quotes McGuireWoods’ Peter Geovanes on Generative AI Education

Legal tech providers’ efforts to educate the legal industry about the issues, risks and benefits of generative AI and large language models could be a “win-win” for law firms and vendors, McGuireWoods’ chief innovation and AI officer Peter Geovanes told Legaltech News in a Sept. 14, 2023, article.

Legal tech providers often couple product offerings with training resources, particularly in the area of legal research, wrote Legaltech News, an American Lawyer Media publication. Generative AI bolstered such efforts, “making educational resources a potential marketing differentiator in the race to release generative AI-related offerings,” the publication noted.

While legal professionals get free resources, providers gain an opportunity to deepen their relationships with current or potential clients, position themselves as experts, and present products to customers earlier on, Geovanes told Legaltech News.

“[T]hat’s why they’re so open to wanting to partner right now because they want as many legal practitioners to get comfortable with this to understand it and then together, I think we can really push the envelope,” Geovanes said.
