2 hours ethics MCLE credit anticipated

McGuireWoods LLP invites you and your colleagues to attend Tom Spahn’s annual ethics program. This two-hour interactive program will explore exceptions to lawyers’ confidentiality duty.

  • Disclosure of protected client information in the context of joint representations and common interest agreements
  • Whether a lawyer may disclose client confidences to comply with laws or court orders
  • Lawyers’ disclosure of protected client information in clearing conflicts of interest on a daily basis and when hiring laterals
  • Whether lawyers can disclose client confidences to defend themselves from clients’ and even non-clients’ claims or criticism

Thomas E. Spahn, Partner, McGuireWoods LLP

Spahn has served on the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and has spoken at more than 1,300 CLE programs on ethics and other topics. Tom was selected as the 2013 metro-Washington, D.C., “Lawyer of the Year” for “Bet the Company Litigation” by Best Lawyers®.
